The True Cost of Rescuing & Rehoming Strays

1. Rescuing. We believe in humane treatment of animals. Wala kami gapamwersa. Before an animal is actually rescued, they are fed a few times before you earn their trust. The more severe the trauma from cruelty, the longer it takes and the more you have to feed them.

2. Transportation. Volunteers need fuel or transport allowance to get to the animal's location. After containing a stray, chartering a public transport, commonly a tricycle, is necessary to carry the animal inside a cage.

3. Vetting. Clinics are businesses. They are not in any way obligated to give us free services. But in St. Clare Veterinary Clinic, our rescues are treated in the same standards as purebreds get.

4. Treatments. Strays are riddled with so many illnesses and they will be treated accordingly, no matter the cost, so they have a chance at being adopted. Mange treatment, vaccinations, flea & tick infestation, etc. are managed to kickstart their healing journey.

5. Surgery. Hit and run victims, animal cruelty victims, birthing animals, strays with TVT - all get surgery. If qualified, our rescues also get neutered/spayed. They are all paid for so each animal is more than prepared to be rehomed.

6. Confinement. After treatment, animals require to be confined under close monitoring until they are cleared to be discharged. Confinement is charged by the day. The more severe the case, the longer they stay, the more expensive it can get.

7. Preventive care. Before clearance, animals will get any preventive care they may need before discharge. Nexgard, vaccinations, etc. Will be administered to ensure their health and safety.

8. Sanctuary stay. While they wait for their furever home, the rescues will stay in Somerhaus where they will learn to build their confidence through socialization and rehabilitation. Their food, supplements and enrichment activities are shouldered by Silong until they are rehomed.

And some people still ask, "ASPIN LANG MAN, NGAA MAY ADOPTION FEE GID?"

Check your entitlement. If you think this is expensive, then you can't afford a purebred.

Kund indi ka, indi eh. Nakapoy kami.
